On August 8, 2017, the Buena Park City Council adopted an ordinance for a "Street Cut Moratorium" in the City of Buena Park. This ordinance is designed to help keep streets in good condition for longer periods of time. It does this by restricting excavation work on streets that have recently been paved. In an emergency, the work would still be allowed, but the ordinance also set stricter paving guidelines that the contractor must follow when they repair their excavations.
The moratorium became effective on September 7, 2017. After that date, all excavations in the public right-of-way must follow the ordinance, in addition to other requirements.
