Water Rates

Print

Water rates for all customers have been adjusted due to increased costs and limited supply.

The City has adopted a tiered water rate system for single family residential customers having a water meter dedicated only for their use. The tiered water rate applies only to the Commodity Charge. Your City of Buena Park water bill consists of three parts:

  1. The Water Capacity Charge, which is a fixed rate depending on the meter size and is charged whether or not you use any water;
  2. The Commodity Charge, which is dependent on your water usage; and
  3. The Capital Charge, which is 10% of the sum on the Capacity and Commodity charges.

Wholesale Pass Through Adjustment
The variable charges shown in the "Water Consumption Charge" reflect the City's forecast of increases in wholesale water costs.  In the event that the City's costs of wholesale water, which are imposed on the City by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California or by the Orange County Water District, exceed the variable charges shown in the chard, the City will pass-through to its customers the Wholesale Pass-Through Adjustment during the five-year period from May 11, 2016 to June 30, 2020.

Tiered water systems have proved effective in helping to conserve water by providing increased cost for higher water use. To reduce water use and reduce costs, customers should refer to the City's Water Conservation web page . Click here for more information.
