43rd Annual Elementary Art Show
The City of Buena Park invites K-6 students who live in Buena Park and its surrounding cities to participate in the 43rd Annual Elementary Art Show. Student work will be showcased in City Hall from January 23 – March 5, 2019. The Awards Reception will be Friday, February 15 at 6pm.
This year's theme is: Animals Are My Friends! From lions to lemurs, butterflies to buffaloes, illustrate your love of creatures big and small with paint, drawing, or collage.
Artwork must be affixed to matboard or cardstock (no glass, framed, or 3-D work will be accepted). Three submissions maximum per student will be accepted.
All artwork must have a half sheet of paper attached to the back lower right-hand corner with the student’s name, title of work, grade, school, parent’s name and email/phone number, and teacher’s name and email/phone number. Entries MUST be submitted through the student’s school. Not open to after school art programs or private instruction classes.
Artwork will be accepted January 2, 2019 – January 18, 2019 by 5:00pm at the Buena Park Community Center located at 6688 Beach Blvd. in Buena Park. Open Monday – Thursday 7:30am-5:30pm and alternating Fridays. Please consult the City Hall calendar on BuenaPark.com for office closures.

18th Annual High School Art Show
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Open to ninth through twelfth grade students who attend accredited public or private schools in Buena Park or surrounding areas. Entries MUST be submitted through the student’s school. Not open to after school art programs or private instruction classes.
Student’s artwork must fall in the following categories; oil/acrylic, watercolor, ink, charcoal/pencil/pastel, 2D mixed media, or photography.
Artwork on paper must be matted and/or be mounted on matboard, poster board, or construction paper for support. Work that is on canvas or framed must have wiring on the back and all work must be ready to hang.
Work that is not matted, mounted, or wired will not be accepted.
Students are allowed to enter a maximum of two submissions, but may only place with one entry.

Artwork will be accepted February 11, 2019 – March 6, 2019 by 5:00 p.m at the following location:

Hours: Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (closed alternating Fridays)
A panel of judges will review all submissions and will select the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each medium category (subject to change if limited submissions are received in a specific category). Ribbons and cash prizes will be presented during the Awards Ceremony on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Buena Park City Hall. All participants, their families, friends, teachers and school officials are invited to attend. Artwork will be on display at Buena Park City Hall March 7, 2019 through April 4, 2019.

The Children’s Arts Festival provides a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to enjoy a day discovering the arts together. Hands-on art activities, live music, and much more provide a delightful celebration of the rich cultural traditions that thrive in our own backyards! In honor of Earth Day, festival activities will focus on being kind to our planet, so craft projects will incorporate found and recycled objects easily found in the home.
In conjunction with the annual Children’s Arts Festival, the Earthday Youth Art Show is a one day exhibit at the event showcasing artwork from students of Buena Park and surrounding cities. Your child or student will be able to share their work with the community. Students are encouraged to create art pieces that celebrate the Earth or raise awareness about environmental issues.
Artwork submissions will be accepted Monday, March 18 through Wednesday, April 8 by 5:00 p.m. at the Buena Park Community Center 6688 Beach Blvd. in Buena Park. Open Monday – Thursday 7:30am-5:30pm and alternating Fridays (consult the City Hall calendar on BuenaPark.com for office closures)
