    Updated Center Art in Crosswalks

BUENA PARK, CA: The City of Buena Park is looking for artists to create an original, computer-generated crosswalk design that reflects the history, diversity, and beauty of the City as part of the Art in Public Places Program.

About Art in Crosswalks:  Art in Crosswalks is a new program that will activate public spaces, engage the attention of drivers or pedestrians, and celebrate the history and culture of Buena Park.

Guidelines: Artwork must be in a subdued-colored aesthetic that is devoid of light-reflective properties (i.e., glitter). As per the Federal Highway Administration guidelines, artwork must be patterned but may not include octagons, triangles, or other shapes, text, and logos that could be confused with standard traffic control devices, legends, or messages.

Submissions: Please submit computer-generated images of potential artwork and a short biography or artist statement to by November 15, 2019.

BUENA PARK, CA: The City of Buena Park is proud to present an exhibit featuring quilts from the Acacia Quilt Guild and the Subterranean Quilters.  These vibrant handcrafted textiles were created to illustrate a story, donated to charitable organizations, and simply for the appreciation of the craft.  The Acacia Quilt Guild has partnerships with The Boys & Girls Club of Buena Park, Senior Care Centers, Relay for Life, the Buena Park Police Department, and so many more.  The Subterranean Quilters is a group of artists who create unique dyes and textures that are incorporated into their quilts.

They will be on display in the City Hall Council Chamber located at 6650 Beach Blvd. 90621 from November 6, 2019 to January 15, 2020.  City Hall is open Monday-Thursday, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm and alternating Fridays. Please call the Community Services Division at (714) 562-3860 to confirm viewing availability before planning your visit.

Buena Park, CA- Get into the holiday spirit with the City of Buena Park at our 7th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Toy Drive! The community comes together to attend this free event each year to enjoy the sights and sounds of holiday cheer in the company of friends, family, and community.

The festivities kick off with the lighting of the tree by City Council, followed by performances from fabulous vocalists and dancers celebrating the theme: Let it Snow! Santa and Mrs. Claus will make their grand entrance in an Orange County Fire Authority fire truck.

The little ones will have plenty of time to share their holiday wishes with Santa while frolicking in the snow, taking family holiday photos and enjoying yummy treats.

In honor of this season of giving, the event will also host a Toy Drive benefiting local charities. Attendees are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped gifts for children.
