Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District - Community Awareness
The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District is a special district and is one of over 100 agencies statewide specifically dedicated to protecting public health by controlling rats, flies, mosquitoes, Red Imported Fire Ants and other vector related problems.
Buena Park has been identified as one of the 9 cities within the county that have historically high numbers of residents who have been stricken with WNV. The District is committed to taking all necessary steps to aid in the prevention of disease transmission:
- Community education
- Source reduction (elimination of breeding sources)
- Control of immature mosquitoes
- Adult mosquito control using backpack and/or truck-mounted treatments
