The Buena Park Youth Theatre provides youth ages 9 - 18 with the opportunity to participate in performing two major stage musicals each year. BPYT is a family venture since parents are heavily involved with supporting the productions. Additionally, the program is well supported by a nonprofit adjunct parent volunteer group, the Friends of the Buena Park Youth Theatre, for both production and fundraising. For arts education and enrichment for the whole family, the Youth Cultural Art Faire, held this year on April 27, 2007, provides a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to enjoy a day discovering the arts together. Hands-on arts activities and free performances from student and professional artists provide a delightful celebration of the rich cultural traditions that thrive in our own backyards!
The Buena Park Civic Theatre provides artists and designers the opportunity to participate in a community theatrical experience. Additionally, the public performances allow residents to see major show performances at affordable prices. Performing a production each year, BPCT's summer "Theatre Under the Stars" production is held at the Ehlers Community Recreation Center, 8150 Knott Avenue.
The Annual High School Art Show held in January and Student Art Show & Reception held in March is a springtime tradition, which recognizes the talents of local students with a competition in visual arts media. Winners, their families and teachers are invited to a reception hosted by the Fine Arts Commission and attended by City Council members. Student artwork is displayed in the Council Chambers for the month.
Highlighting the talents of a visual artist, the Exhibiting Artist Reception is held in May to recognize and display the works of a Fine Arts Commission chosen artist. A reception is held in honor of the artist, whose works are displayed in the Council Chambers, and is attended by City Council members.

Recognizing exceptional service to the arts, the Fine Arts Commission has established the Elva Leisch Hughes Laureate of the Arts Award given annually to an individual, group or business nominated by the Fine Arts Commission. In addition, the Commission bestows Partners of Distinction Awards and Letters of Recognition to those individuals or community vendors that have achieved a high level of arts support to Buena Park.
