Redevelopment

Commercial Rehabilitation
The Redevelopment Agency also sponsors a Commercial Rehabilitation program in order to help clean up distressed properties in the City's business districts.

The City of Buena Park is very committed to assisting businesses in the Redevelopment Project Area to upgrade and improve the appearance and safety of their buildings. In order to meet this objective, the City sponsors the Commercial Rehabilitation Program.

Eligible businesses can receive up to $50,000 per building towards improvements to the facade, paint, stucco, awnings, windows, doors, and signs. In addition, any dangerous health and safety conditions, both exterior and interior, can be corrected. Commercial property owners and business tenants have two rebate programs and one loan program available to assist them in improving the exterior of their buildings.

Repair Rebate Program
The Repair Rebate program provides a reimbursement of up to $1,500 per business address in the form of a 75% City/25% participant rebate. Under this program, improvement projects of up to $2,000 are eligible. The program emphasizes facade repairs and minor improvements to existing buildings in relatively good condition.

Rebate Program
The larger Rebate program allows for a rebate of up to $25,000 per business address, in the form of a 60% City/40% participant matching rebate. Funding can be provided for up to three addresses, totaling $75,000. As an example, a business with three addresses performing $100,000 worth of improvements can receive a rebate of $60,000 (60%) from the City. The participant would be responsible for the remaining $40,000 (40%).

Low-Interest Loan Program
The Low Interest Loan program provides a 15 year loan of up to $50,000 at an interest rate of 4%. Recognizing that businesses have multiple expenses, the City will defer all payments for the first three years. Both business tenants and property owners are eligible for the loan.

Participation in any of the Commercial Rehabilitation programs will add to the value of businesses in the City and upgrade the commercial areas. By investing in a public/private partnership, the City hopes to improve and maintain a valuable resource, its businesses. For details and assistance in determining eligibility, e-mail
